About Bob Kathman

After attending The Rhode Island School of Design and The College of Charleston, SC, I transferred back to my home state of Maryland. I earned my BFA in General Fine Arts at The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (MICA) and began working for The Frederick County Public School System as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator/Photographer in their Media Arts Department. I also did freelance art for newspapers and ads for local businesses.

My art career took a turn when I took a job closer to home at Microprose Software, creating screens, icons, backgrounds, textures and concept art for 7, shipped, PC game titles. My freelance art changed too when I created covers for a national magazine (Shocked & Amazed) and was the co-editor for a comic anthology called Flock of Dreamers, that was internationally published. I'm also a member of IASD, The International Association for the Study of Dreams.

I moved to California to join an EverQuest game team at Sony Online Entertainment in San Diego. We produced 2 shipped titles. When I moved to Los Angeles, I did graphics and art for The Jimmy Kimmel Live Show. I currently work as an artist at Golden Hippo making animations, illustrations and graphics. I still do freelance & my own projects. I'm a member of SCBWI, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
